ISS Locator is an application designed to enhance the user's experience when observing the International Space Station (ISS) and other satellites. By utilizing the device's current location, the app provides precise predictions on when these satellites will be visible overhead. It employs the iPhone’s magnetometer to guide users on the appropriate direction to look, while the gyroscope indicates the altitude along the horizon at which the ISS will appear.

The app features a countdown timer that informs users of the exact start time and duration of each sighting, offering an organized and user-friendly experience. Furthermore, users can add sightings directly to their calendars or set notifications to ensure they do not miss any opportunities. An additional feature allows users to share their viewing experiences with friends via email.

As a tool for education and exploration, ISS Locator provides an engaging way to learn about satellite movements and fosters a sense of connection with space. Users should be aware that location services must be enabled for optimal functionality; this requirement is crucial for accurate tracking.

It is also important to note that only visible sightings are reported, which typically occur at dawn and dusk. Consequently, observations cannot be made during daylight hours or in complete darkness.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the Hubble Space Telescope's orbit is tilted at an angle of 28.5 degrees to the equator, restricting its travel to latitudes between 28.5 degrees North and 28.5 degrees South.
